How do I search for a thesis or dissertation?

Search for a thesis or dissertation by authors not from LMU:

1) Search in the Proquest Dissertations & Theses database.

2) If the thesis or dissertation is not available in Proquest, do a title search in LINK+. If found, request.

3) Request through Interlibrary Loan.

Search for an LMU thesis or dissertation (in print):

Go to the Advanced Search mode of the Library Catalog.  In the first box, change the drop-down field to "Author" and type in Loyola Marymount University.  In the second box, type in "thesis."  In the third box, type in the subject or graduate program.  See the picture below.

Search for an LMU thesis or dissertation (in electronic form):

Theses are available electronically for newer theses, sometimes as old as 2008.

Finding the theses in LINUS is a little different than finding the paper theses. Search for “LMU/LLS Theses and Dissertations” in the AUTHOR field, or you can use this link to search.

Some of the theses are available to everyone, some are only available to on-campus users, and some are still embargoed for privacy reasons for a year or two. This information is in the “Access” field of the record.

Theses available are from subjects: Art Therapy, Screenwriting, Theological Studies, Mechanical Engineering, English, and Environmental Science & Civil Engineering.
