How do I place a book on hold?
If you find a book in the catalog but aren't able to come to the library at that time, you can request the book online by clicking on the "Request" link on the item record page. You must be logged-in to your library account to see this request link. For more information and policies, see our library website.
If the book you want has a due date, you can click the Request link to recall the book. You can recall a book that is checked out by someone else, asking them to return it to the library, but they get to keep it for a certain period of time (up to three weeks).
You can also check LINK+, a group of libraries who will loan their books to us quickly. Requesting a book from LINK+ will take a few business days. To find out more about LINK+, see the FAQ "how do I get a book that we don't have in the library".
Finally, there is ILLiad, which is the last resort - if books are not available in LINK+ or at LMU, you can create an ILLiad account. Requesting ILLiad allows you to request from a variety of U.S. libraries, but it can take significantly more time for delivery.
