Databases with Newspaper Full Text
LMU students, faculty, and staff have access to the full text to all current New York Times content (along with Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and more) through our subscription to US Major Dailies. This academic database works best if you know the date of the issue you wish to browse, and/or the article title or subject. Users who set up a ProQuest My Research Account can set up saved searches and alerts.
To access US Major Dailies from OneSearch:
- From the library's homepage, go to OneSearch and select "Advanced Search"
- At the top of the OneSearch page, click on "Database Search"
- Search for "US Major Dailies" using the search box on the Database Search page
- Click on "US Major Dailies" in the results list to open up the catalog record and click on "US Major Dailies" under "View Online"
- Once you get to Proquest, select "Publications" above the search bar (on desktop)
- Select either "New York Times, Late Edition (East Coast); New York, N.Y." or "New York Times (Online); New York"
- Your default result should show today's articles (or possibly yesterday's depending on the time you access it) in alphabetical order.
At Los Angeles Public Library: New York Times Digital and the Washington Post are both available with a Los Angeles Public Library card, and individual newspapers also offer substantial educational discounts for monthly individual/personal accounts. (For our community members not currently residing in Los Angeles, we recommend that you check out your local library branch's digital offerings.)
